UFC 146 Fight Recap For Saturday May 26, 2012 at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was the night of HEAVY WEIGHTS! The crowds and Celebrities ALWAYS come out for UFC fights in Las Vegas. The main event was Junior dos Santos VS Frank Mir.

Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir:
WINNER – Junior Dos Santos!

I like both the fighters but tonight I was rooting for Frank Mir, but it just wasn’t Mir’s night. In the first round, Frank Mir tried taking dos Santos down, but dos Santos wanted no part of it and boxed with him instead. Toward the end of the first round Junior dos Santos caught Mir with a couple shots that left Mir a bit shaken. I could hear some folks in the crowd saying, Mir was not really hurt and that Mir was trying to draw dos Santos in. Personally, I do think Mir was saved by the bell.

Going into the 2nd round I could not understand why Frank Mir was fighting dos Santos game. He was boxing with with him. WHAT was he thinking??? This is dos Santos STRONG point. Sure enough, dos Santos took control and put Mir away by technical knockout 3:04 of the second round.

 Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva:
WINNER – Cain Velasquez.

Velasquez took Silva down early and proceeded to ground and pound Silva to a bloody mess. Velasquez caught Silva with an elbow on the bridge of his nose and Silva started bleeding like a faucet. Silva kept trying to wipe away the blood from his eyes, but to no avail. Velasquez got the technical knockout at 3:36 of the first round.

Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman:
WINNER: Roy Nelson

The past few weeks prior to Saturdasy nights fight, Roy Nelson has been outspoken about drug testing in the UFC. Roy is ALL for drug testing. I heard Roy say in an interview,” It Pays To Cheat in the UFC”.

In any case it is ALWAYS exciting to see Roy Nelson fight. He can take a punch like nobody’s business and he HITS hard like a MAC Truck! Saturday night it was ALL ROY! His famous overhand right put Herman to the floor! Then Nelson gave him one more shot to the side of his face and the ref stepped in and called it at .51 seconds of the first round. The crowd went CRAZY! Roy Nelson didn’t even break a sweat! It ended thast quickly. Good for you Roy!

Stipe Miocic vs. Shane del Rosario
WINNER: Stipe Miocic

Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson
WINNER: Stefan Struve

Stefan Struve defeated Lavar Johnson by armbar in the first round at 1:05. It happened so fast in such a way I could not see the submission it clearly. But the ref jumped in when Johnson tapped.

Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig
WINNERL: Dan Hardy

The first time I met Dan Hardy was at the Tuff-N-Uff fights about 2 years ago just after his loss to George St. Piere. Dan had not had a WIN since 2009 and had lost his last 4 fights. I am so glad that the UFC stuck with him and didn’t cut him. Dan always brings an excitment to the cage that most fighters just don’t have.

To see Dan Hard get a first round knockout was AWESOME! This put’s him back on track. Dan looked sharp and fast. I look forward to seeing him in the cage in the near future! Way to go Dan Hardy!

Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins
WINNER: Darren Elkins

Edson Barboza vs. Jamie Varner
WINNER: Jamie Varner

Jason Miller vs. C.B. Dollaway
WINNER: C.B. Dollaway

Until Next Time….

See Ya Ringside!
