According to the Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Has Resigned.

I watched the congressional hearing on capital hill on c-span yesterday as they ranted and criticized Julia Pierson. It was brutal to watch, but I had a hard time disagreeing with any the members of congress comments. How was it event remotely possible for someone to get even to the door with any security stopping him? No Dog or armed security was even seen on the front lawn. This

boggles my mind! This is the Secret Service for crying out loud! Where are they???

On September 19, 2014,  there was a security breach by Omar Gonzalez.  Gonzalez got over the fence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and went through open door into the White House, knocking over a service agent,  before being tackled and brought down.

What also surprised me was the fact that both Republican and Democrats were actually on the same page with there criticism. It is a rare moment to see both parties on the same page. At least, now I know it’s possible!

As I was watching this hearing, other security breaches were talked about. Then today, as I was watching CNN, an Ex- Secret Service Agent expressed his surprise as well,  saying” there are at least 50 different sets of SECURITY eye balls watching that front lawn and he was in shock with what he witnessed.

Personally, I want to see Dogs and Armed Security officers Overwhelm ANY intruder at the White House in seconds, not minutes!!!

– Am I surprised Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned?  No.
– Do I think the White and our country is better off with her resignation? Yes.

It’s time for someone else to get this branch back on track.

I do not usually comment on things outside of Las Vegas, but this week there has been a few things on a national level that I felt the need to comment on.

Feel free to leave a comment.
Have a Good Day!

The Republicans Hammered Kathleen Sebelius During the 3 1/2 Hours Congressional Meeting

AffordableHealthcareThis morning I tuned into CNN to catch the coverage of congress questioning Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius about the challenges with the Affordable Care Act rollout. AKA as “Obamacare”.

It was not just a QUESTIONING type of Meeting. The republicans beat the CRAP out Sebelius! It was disgusting to watch. It was painful hear.

It’s one thing to have a professional conversation between adults in order to discuss whatever challenges of the day happen to be. It’s quite another to BULLY, HUMILIATE, and BEATUP a person. Secretary Sebelius acknowleged and has taken responsibility for the errors and mistakes of this Obamacare rollout.

It’s no secret that the Obamacare rollout October 1, 2013 has been a mess. There is plenty of blame to go round. Maybe we will get the full story sometime, but right now we need the website corrected. However, before congress Sebelius did apologize and took responsibility for all the problems with the Affordable Health Care website.

When there is a problem one can be a help or a hinderance…
It’s very clear the Republicans are only interested in being a hinderance. During the hearing the Republicans were just down right rude and unprofessional during this meeting.

Sebelius is tough as nails. Read more

Serious Issues Arise Two Weeks Into Government Shutdown!

Now Two Weeks Into The Government Shutdown There are Serious Issues Truly Being Shed Light On With Our System of Government. (Written by Guillermo Calvillo)

Plenty of things have culminated to bring us to this point. It all starts with a large movement of political platforms based on disinformation and grey facts stated by politicians and the media. Many of these platforms included the selling of the idea that the Affordable Care Act renamed Obamacare by the far right wing of the Republican Party, as a socialist economic disaster were government controlled health care would throw us into a Nazi like experiment that would kill off our elderly.

At no point during this maelstrom of false truths or stretched out portions in the legislation taken out of context were reputed or dismissed by the more informed politicians of the Republican Party on media outlets or during town hall meetings. Instead we saw a doubling down of such rhetoric spread far and wide with politicians selling potential voters on a promise that they couldn’t keep. They promised that the fringe would over power the majority at any cost. So now we see that cost being paid in full. Never before has a political party fallen into such disarray or approval ratings. President Obama WINS!

President Barack Obama WINS 2nd Term!

In one of the most negitive campaigning environments we have ever scene across the board, President Barack Obama was Re-elected the 44th President of the United States on November 6, 2012. Looks like “Big Bird” won’t get cut! HURRAY! It was a close popular race, litterally neck and neck.In the end Obama won. He also won in Nevada.

Locally in the US Senate Race, Shelly Berklee lost to Dean Heller in what I think was the UGLIEST campaigns I have EVER seen in my life! It was Hateful, Ugly and MEAN!

It made me sick to hear some of the things Heller was saying and Shelly Berklee! One  can dissagree with another but to be so UGLY and MEAN! The fact is, Heller probably really believes ALL that crap that he was saying about Berklee.

Time will also tell if Heller is good for Nevada or not. I hope he is… I have a feeling, just  a feeling that in the future Nevada will be wishing they had Shelly Berkely in there!

Time Will Tell!

Have a Wopnder Filled Day!

Steve Forbes Lectures at UNLV

Steve Forbes, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media, Gave a Lecture to UNLV April 25, 2012.

The Steve Forbes lecture was part of the UNLV’s Barrick Lecture Series. UNLV’s Ham Hall holds 1800 people and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house!

The chairman and editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media, Steve Forbes, talked about Government, Taxes, Economy, Healthcare and the upcoming Presidential Election.

Forbes – On The ECONOMY:
“Concerning the economy itself this year is yes, it’s doing better than it was last year.”

Forbes on HEALTHCARE:
Forbes recommends opening up healthcare to free enterprise system. Healthcare is one of the few businesses that can’t compete across state lines. Forbes believes if this type of competition was available, the pricing of healthcare would self correct.

At the end of all the Barrick Lectures I have attended, there has been a Q & A from the audience. This lecture was no different. One audience member asked if he would be open to serving in the Romney TEAM when elected, and Forbes replied, he wouldn’t be offered a position because he backed another candidate.

Forbes has been in the know for many years and understands how these political things work. He is probably correct in thinking Mitt Romney would not ask him to serve…

If Romney is elected, which I doubt will happen, but if he is, I hope he will have the sense to seek out the likes of Steve Forbes, not for his politics, rather for his BRILLIANCE…Because Forbes is truly BRILLIANT.

Forbes is not only wicked smart, as we use to say when I was a kid, but he is a REAL common sense guy. He can take the seemingly complicated issues of the day and make it EASY for people to understand. He see’s the problem and has solutions, EASY and COMMON SENSE solutions. Yet,many of these
solutions can’t get legs within ANY administration, Republican or Democrat.

Forbes also has a great understanding of the “NEW POWER GIANTS” Online, Facebook and Google. He also realizes the way magazines and books use to profit is OVER! It’s a new time and new business models are being created before our very eyes.

As Forbes shares,“I can tell you how exactly many people have read every article on Forbes.com” It’s knowing these numbers that is shaping how we are starting to do business today.

I felt privileged to have played my guitar at a fundraiser for Forbes back in 2000, when he was running for president. Back then he was talking about getting rid of the TAX code and going with a flat tax.Twelve years later, he still has a similar message, the TAX CODE is a mess, but the FACT is, NOBODY is going to change this beast. It would be great, but it ISN’T going to happen.

AND That Just PISSES Me OFF!

Everyone agrees the tax code is a mess and needs to be changed but NO ONE in ANY administration will take it by the horns and GETT’ER DONE!

This is what IRKS me the most about politics in general. There are solutions to many of our problems, common sense solutions. Yet, the politicians just seem to want to keep it complicated!

When I hear politicians say, after they leave office, “Well, now that I am no longer in office this is how I REALLY FEEL about XYZ! Statements like this drive my CRAZY! What happened to By The People, For The People. It doesn’t say For The Party, by The Party!

Now I’m just ranting! Anyway…

I had a short 30 second video interview with MR Forbes after his lecture.

Maybe next time I’ll get to ask a few more questions, like:
-What are you top 3 favorite books of ALL time, besides your own?
– What do you do for exercise?
– Are you a Classical, Jazz, Rock or Folk music kind of guy?
– Who has been your favorite America President and Why?
– What inspires you?

Bottom Line:
It was AWESOME to hear Mr. Steve Forbes share his thoughts UNLV’s Barrick Lecture Series.
Thank You for sharing Steve!

Keep Being Brilliant,
Robby LeBlanc
