Las Vegas Guitarist To Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro:To Fight Obesity and Diabetes.

Las Vegas Guitarist Robby LeBlanc will climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa in June 2012 to bring awareness to the epidemic of Obesity and Diabetes.

Las Vegas, Nevada – May 21, 2012 – In November of 2004 while on a cruise in Tahiti, Las Vegas Guitarist Robby LeBlanc, had the opportunity to hear Visionary Mountain Climber Werner Berger talk about climbing the Seven Summits of the world. At the time Werner was 68 years old. The next day Robby asked Werner; “If I lose 100 pounds could I climb Mt Kilimanjaro? At the time Robby weighed 360 pounds. Werner responded, “If you lose 100 pounds, I’ll go with you young man. “ Werner called Robby for 5 years and for 5 years Robby had to say “NO, I haven’t lost the weight”. Robby hadn’t talked to Werner in almost 2 years and then 6 months ago Werner calls Robby and asks; “Robby I heard you just did 13 miles in a half marathon. Is that true?” I said “YES, Werner, it’s true and I’m about to do another one this weekend. “ Werner then asked; “Robby, when are we going to Mt Kilimanjaro?’.  We set the date to meet in Tanzania Africa June 17, 2012.

 In April 2011, Robby was featured in an 8 part series on the Oprah Winfrey Network, OWN, called “Addicted To Food”.  This experience saved Robby’s life. Since then, Robby has lost close to 80 pounds and has drastically improved his Diabetic A1C from 10.4 down to 4.6. Now he is on a mission to fight diabetes and obesity. June 17, 2012 Las Vegas Guitarist Robby LeBlanc will travel to Tanzania, Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

According To The (CDC) Center For Disease Control, Obesity and Diabetes is truly an epidemic.  
• About one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese
• Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.
• Since 1980, obesity prevalence has almost tripled.
• Nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes
• An estimated 79 million U.S. adults have pre-diabetes
• About 27 percent of those with diabetes—7 million Americans—do not know they have the disease.
