The TODAY SHOW Fires Ann Curry as co-host… BIG MISTAKE!

I had just gotten home from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro when I heard the news that Ann Curry had been replaced by Savanah Guthrie on the Today Show. I was truly bummed out by the news. And to see how NBC did it, in RUSH style to try to get Guthrie a bit of a jump on the Olympic Coverage. They just chewed her up and spit her out. My God, Ann Curry is and has been a trusted voice on TV for years and for NBC to do what they did, and how they did it is DISGUSTING!

I know that Ann Curry had gone to Kilimanjaro a few years back and there was a part of me that was hoping to be interviewed by her one day to talk to her about her climb too. Maybe that will happen again some day, but highly unlikly it will happen on the Today Show.

I’m not here to bash Savanah Guthrie. I like her, but personally do not think she fits as co-anchor.

Which brings me to Comments Made By Mr. Bryant Gumbel…
 I recently read this article in the LA Times by Steven Zeitchik July 18, 2012 with Bryant Gumbel commenting about the Today Show’s Ann Curry being fired. Here is a quote…

“I’m surprised and disappointed at this idea that Ann was a martyr, that she was thrown under the bus,” Gumbel told Show Tracker. “I don’t know why she’s being portrayed as a modern-day Joan of Arc. In every job, in every walk of life, people are hired to do a job, and if they don’t do it well they are relieved of that job.”

Let me just say it, Bryant Gumbel is a pompous, conceded, arrogant JERK of massive proportions!Just my way of saying, I don’t like him very much. It’s not what he said about Ann Curry,but his arrogant and holier than thou manner in which it was expressed.

When a crises hits our country who do I want to listen to as a trusted voice on the national front? Without question, Ann Curry has and always will be my voice of choice. Ann Curry has a genuine compassion and caring in her intention that pours through her spirit. She’s honest and heart felt.

I just can’t understand WHY NBC just dropped her like a bag of hot potatoes. No Thanks for the memories. No appreciation for the work done.

We are living in some really challenging times, economically and politically etc. And it is in these times that I rely on a certain trusted voice’s in the media and ANN Curry was at the top of my list.Dont get me wrong, I Love Al Roker and Joy Bauer’s Fit Club segments on Today. But a Trusted VOICE in a time of need is EXACTLY what I look for.

Fast forward to Friday evening, July 20, NBC gave ANN Curry a spot to cover that HORRIFIC shoting in Colorado. As always, she did a great job and she showed up after how NBC treated her. She’s a pro!

What about the Olympics? NBC had a few interviewers on NBC that were down right horrible! Andrea Joyce interview with Michael Phelps was terrible! Ann Curry should be reporting the Olympics right now!

Bottom LINE –  I MISS ANN CURRY and I miss her on the Today Show! Hopefully you will soon find a TV home that wants and appreciates you and when you do, I’ll be tuning in! Ann if you are listening, I am so sorry this had to happen to you.There are MILLIONS of people that truly LOVE and Adore you.Everyone in my house and family miss you deeply!

    2. i Totally & Completely agree with you Robby. Did you know that when they first “re-assigned” Ann Curry, the NBC News exec who did it said that they would have Ann at The Olympics. WHERE IN THE WORLD is Ann Curry, Matt Lauer & the NBC exec who displaced her. What a flawed move on his part. She was the very best part of TODAY and it was a perfect TODAY show when she was on air. I used to watch TODAY every Monday through Friday morning since the Jane Pauley days. Now i have given it up. I used to really like Matt Lauer and think he was great. Now i can’t stand him, since he threw Ann under the bus. I can’t stand to see him anymore and so i don’t really like Savannah. No offense against SG….i just loved Ann Curry for 15 years and loved “having her in my home” every Monday through Friday morning. Like you and your family, i miss her so very much. NBC needs to turn her loose so that ABC or CBS will snatch her up and put her back on-air on a Monday through Friday basis. Just Do It, NBC ….. we heartlanders mean business. Do it Sooner than Later, or lose us forever.
