13 yr Old Jiu Jitsu Fighter, Peyton Prussin Aspires To Compete in UFC!

The 13 Year Old Jiu Jitsu Practitioner, Peyton Prussin ASPIRES To Compete and Fight in The UFC . She Also LOVES Watching Ronda Rousey Fight!

Mixed Martial Arts has been a male dominated sport for as long as I can remember. However, with the rise of such female fighters as Gina Carano, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and a few others, the ladies have stepped on to the main stage. These athletes have become INSPIRATIONS and HERO’S to the next generation of female fighters.

I’ve been covering sports and specifically MMA for LasVegasNewsBlog.com since 2010. A few years back I covered a TUFF-N-UFF event in Mesquite, Nevada at the Casa Blanca Hotel & Spa Resort. This is where I met Ely Prussin, the marketing director for that property. I’d see him and his kids at the fights, always having a good time. They’d wave, I’d take a photo or two.

About 2 months ago I saw a YOUTUBE video of his 13 year old daughter, Peyton tapping out a competitor with an arm bar! Then saw a few other videos and was just blown away. This young, attractive, 13 year old girl is taking on the guys and WINNING!

Peyton Prussin, just 13 years old, already has 46 fights under her belt with a record or 40-6! Yes, thats 40 WINS with only 6 losses. AND 4 of those losses were against EXPERT BOYS! This is incredible for any Martial Artist, Wrestler, Jiu Jitsu Practitioner or Boxer.

I called her dad, Ely Prussin shortly after and said, I’d like to interview Peyton and he said that would be great. I also asked him to ask her COACH, Robert Drysdale if it would be ok. I know some coaches can be funny that way, if it’s not about them, they don’t want to know anything. Drysdale was ok with it too.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet the World Champion Brazilian Jui Jitsu Coach and UFC Fighter, Robert Drysdale. This is what he said:

“Peyton is one of our most consistent students. She has a lot of potential”

Then later Drysdale shared;
“ I’m not trying to make CHAMPIONS out of 9 year olds. I don’t believe in that. I’ve seen it back fire. I teach competitive Jiu Jitsu and I do push them hard. There is no social pressure on them. I want them to have a good time and enjoy the sport. ”

Peyton and I had a nice chat. She’s a regular kid that’s smart, has a great attitude, is energetic and likes to have fun. AND then there is the competitive side of her which she DIRECTS on the mats in the form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and attending MMA events like TUFF-N-UFF and UFC. She LOVES Ronda Rousey and hopes one day to compete in the UFC!

After spending over an hour at the Drysdale Training Center, watching her and the TEAM workout, it was clear to me Drysdale Jiu Jitsu is the perfect place for her to train and Robert Drysdale is GREAT with his TEAm and the younger kids.
