Las Vegas Guitarist Robby LeBlanc Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro!

YES, Las Vegas Guitarist Robby LeBlanc Just Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro! A DREAM that started in 2004 while on a cruise in Tahiti has become REAL!

After I saw Werner Berger talk about climbing the Seven Summits of the world in 2004, the idea and DREAM was planted in my soul. “I must climb Mount Kilimanjaro”!

Fast forward to July 2, 2012…I am proud to share I climbed the the second highest point on Mt Kilimanjaro known as High Base Camp.

Every day on Kilimanjaro was adventure and challenge. We had 15 people in our group with Werner Berger. Some were experienced climbers that had scaled Mt Everest while others had some to little experience climbing mountains. I was among those with the least experience.

The first day started with a bang! The night before we had a hard rain fall which made the roads and paths severely muddy. It was so muddy, that the truck had to drop us off 3 miles shorts of the start location! Yes, we had to walk 3 miles in the mud in order to get to our start location.

This is when things got really intense, FAST…
Ten minutes into our climb, from the actual start location, I got caught in a mud slide of sorts and was fighting to keep my ground. I was reaching and kicking my feet to grab on to something, anything. Then, I fell off a vegitation cliff. At the last second, DAN, one of the guys in our group immediately grabbed me by my shirt collar. I was dangling on a 100 foot drop off!He SAVED my ASS!!!

This is how the climb started for me!

My primary goal was to finally meet Mount Kilimanjaro headon and finally try to climb that bad boy to the best of my ability. I am THRILLED with my accomplishment. Secondly, I wanted to bring awareness and raise money for Vegas PBS Keeping Kids Fit Program to fight obesity! This is just getting started! it was ZERO degrees when I was holding up that PBS banner!

Over the coming weeks I’ll share more about the journey but just wanted everyone to know I home safe!

I Want To THANK ALL of You For Your Love, Support and Encouragement on This Adventure!
Specifically My Sponsors!

Sincerely,
Robby LeBlanc, The Publisher of LasVegasNewsBlog.com

PS – I will probably be doing a local Las Vegas Presentation about this adventure in the next few weeks. Let me know if you’d like to be invited…
